IPSC in Georgia |
|
By Robert Knott, President, Chattahoochee Valley Sports Shooting Club |
Just as Georgia offers everything from the seashore
to the mountains, Practical Shooting in Georgia runs the gamut from small 3 or 4 stage
indoor matches on weekday evenings to full, tournament level, day-long, 8 stage outdoor
matches. Every month, just about every week of the year, one of Georgias USPSA
affiliated clubs is hosting a match to challenge the expert shooter and introduce the
novice to the most fun sport around: USPSA/IPSC shooting.
Whether you are a new shooter, a veteran, or a "never fired a pistol in my life" person; man, woman, boy, or girl, Georgias IPSC clubs are here for you. Any of our clubs would love to have you visit and share in the fun. Veteran shooters at each club are always willing to share their knowledge and safely introduce you to the sport of practical shooting.
If you are reading this, it is assumed that you have some interest in shooting, either for recreation, self-protection, or both. USPSA /IPSC shooting can provide you with recreation for the entire family as well as hone your defensive skills. While IPSC is first and foremost a sport, there is no finer way to learn the shooting skills that may one day save your life or the life of a loved one. Safety is the paramount consideration at all USPSA/IPSC functions, first you learn to safely handle firearms, then you develop shooting skills, and all the while you are having fun! Such a deal!
This web page provides links to the various Georgia clubs, their schedules of events and club contacts. Please feel free to contact any of them, they would all be glad to hear from you, and answer any questions you may have about the sport. These clubs are all places you can visit with your families, people from all walks of life are there, and the only thing that matters is that you be safe and courteous.
The Georgia Section provides a monthly free new shooter school at South
River Gun Club. Click here for details at the South River Gun Club page. This is a great way to get hand-on exposure to the sport and hopefully avoid feeling some of the 'first match jitters' that all the rest of us had when we started.Go ahead and contact a club near you, and join in the fun with a great bunch of people! Were waiting to hear from you.
